Release Notes

RibbonExplorer Beta 1.1

  • A Windows 7 application which takes a ribbon markup (XML) and shows the resulting ribbon.
  • The application compiles the Ribbon XML (UICC.exe, RC.exe, Link.exe), loads it and creates a window with the resulting Ribbon.
  • The application controls the Ribbon and shows the various Ribbon events.
  • Use the Ribbon.XML and the Res folder to test the application.
  • The application requires Windows 7 + Windows 7 SDK + Visual Studio 2008 SP1

New features in this release

  1. Compatible with the Windows 7 RTM
  2. Invalidating/Setting a state/value/property/all properties of a Ribbon command
  3. Changing the Ribbon colors
  4. Save/Load Ribbon state

Features not implemented in this version:

  1. Ribbon Clipboard buttons do nothing.
  2. Close XML file is not implemented yet.
  3. Displaying the Ribbon callback method calls and the property key/property variant values is partially implemented.
  4. Use a resource from executable or dynamic link library as the ribbon source for the application, for example show the ribbon of Paint is not implemented yet
  5. The Ribbon XML Tab is not activated after "Load"
  6. All tabs are not removed or cleared when loading new XML file
  7. Line numbers are not shown for the Ribbon XML
  8. no XML Coloring yet
